Stewart, Blair College Libraries Library Collections Library Cooperation Periodicals Public Libraries Regional Libraries Union Catalogs The Associated Colleges of the Midwest Periodical Bank is a service which provides interlibrary access to periodical literature in the Chicago metropolitan area. By maintaining a dedicated collection of the most heavily requested periodicals and having access to the collections of all cooperating libraries, the Periodical Bank can provide photocopies of articles on request while reducing the necessity for each library to maintain and access comprehensive collections. The Bank's speed and rate of success in filling requests have been improved by studying requests to identify which periodicals should be in the Bank. A selective union catalog is being developed which will further improve the service and the economy possible through this cooperative arrangement. (KB)
