Edward And Others Academic Libraries College Libraries Higher Education Librarians Library Research Library Surveys Personnel Needs Staff Utilization Two Year Colleges The current formula for staffing libraries and resource centers in Virginia public institutions of higher learning was examined by a subcommittee of library directors. Questionnaires were mailed to relevant institutions to collect information regarding: (1) input variables; (2) staffing needs as perceived by the directors of the institutions; and (3) current staffing data. Pearson product moment correlations were used to aggregate the data. A modified version of a staff formula previously used by the State University of New York was recommended to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. (EMH)
