  • Interlibrary Cooperation; a Wisconsin Plan. Report of the Task Force on Interlibrary Cooperation and Resource Sharing. Bulletin No. 7069. Drew, Sally J., Ed. Communications Financial Support Information Retrieval Interlibrary Loans Legal Problems Libraries Library Cooperation Library Networks Library Research Library Services Library Surveys Statewide Planning The objectives of the Wisconsin Task Force on Interlibrary Cooperation and Resource Sharing included gathering information on the current status and apparent trends in interlibrary cooperation and resource sharing in Wisconsin and elsewhere, identifying gaps and problems to be dealt with in planning, and making recommendations for future developments. Barriers to cooperation identified included legal problems, lack of funds, inconsistent planning, and inadequate communication. It was decided that the cooperative structure must include participation by all types of libraries in the state and it must clearly define the role of each participant. Data were gathered on existing library collections, clienteles, participation in cooperative activities, use of computerized information retrieval, and communication systems. Principles of library service basic to interlibrary cooperation were identified, and a cooperative structure for the state, regional, and local levels was recommended. Appendixes include lists of task force members and current cooperative organizations, results of research projects carried out by the task force, and a 16-item bibliography. (PF)
