contents The Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Service. Dalton, Phyllis I. Demography Library Cooperation Library Networks Library Planning Library Services Library Surveys Public Libraries Regional Cooperation Regional Planning Use Studies A study was conducted of Polk, Yamhill, and Marion Counties in Oregon to prepare a plan for developing cooperative regional library service. Public, community college, and special libraries were visited, and residents--both users and identified non-users--were interviewed to ascertain their attitudes, interests, and needs for library service. A profile of community needs and library resources was prepared by each public library in the region. A course of action was recommended, building on existing services and resources, and allowing cooperating libraries to remain autonomous and be responsive to local community needs. Special projects to meet identified needs as well as implementation stages of the plan were outlined. The appendices include tables and maps of demographic and library resource information. (KP)
