Developing Nations Documentation Foreign Countries Information Needs Information Systems Labor Force Development Legislation Library Planning Library Services National Programs Signicant developments in the documentation and library services of 32 African countries since the Kampala, Uganda meeting held in 1970 are enumerated. Particular reference is given to the countries' progress in meeting the following objectives set forth by the Intergovernment Conference: (1) legislation; (2) creation of coordinating bodies; (3) Universal Bibliographic Control (UBC); (4) planning and training of specialized manpower; and (5) implementation of a national information system (NATIS) to meet the evolving needs of various groups of users. General comments on other conferences held in African countries, infrastructures impeding library and network development, legislation, national bibliographic control, supplying manpower, and questions for reflection by participants of member countries conclude the report.
