Autoinstructional Aids Educational Psychology Independent Study Learning Modules Library Instruction Library Research Library Skills Research Skills This module is designed as a self-paced package to teach persons in educational psychology to conduct literature searches. The module could be easily adapted for use in other academic areas. The systematic method of approaching library research is divided into eight specific research skills: (1) writing an outline, (2) writing notecards, (3) locating references in the library, (4) generating descriptors and hand searching indexes, (5) computerized searches, (6) identifying key sections of books and research articles, (7) processing of research materials, and (8) organizing the literature into categories. Each unit contains a pretest, assessment of pretest, learning activities, posttest, and assessment of posttest. There is also an overall pretest to enable the student to select only those units in which he lacks competency. (Author/JAB)
