Information Systems Interlibrary Loans Libraries Library Automation Library Networks Online Systems Specifications This report covers functional specifications for the OCLC Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Subsystem, designed to permit participating libraries to increase the availability of library resources to patrons by enabling these libraries to form, transmit, and fulfill loan requests more rapidly and effectively. It will provide rapid access to a large on-line union catalog containing bibliographic data and location listings. Specifications described are definition of on-line files, authorization levels, definition of on-line ILL record--including a chart specifying fields, lengths, input and instruction; searching the file, user workflow at the terminal, summary of user commands, and system messages.
