- Syracuse University Libraries Technical Procedures Manual. Putnam, Nancy, Ed. And Others College Libraries Guides Library Acquisition Library Administration Library Circulation Library Collections Library Materials Library Technical Processes Online Systems Program Descriptions Technical procedures of Syracuse University Libraries are described in this manual which is divided in two parts: (1) description of the general organization of Syracuse University Libraries collections and the various ways to obtain access to them; and (2) detailed technical procedures to be followed when adding or removing material from the collections. Topics considered in the first part include administrative organization and department descriptions, and access to the collections through four basic tools--card catalogs, kardexes, periodical printouts, and the automated system, SULIRS. Part Two, describing the technical procedures, provides information on collection acquisition, including pre-order searching and bibliographic tools, ordering, collection maintenance, circulation, and inventory. The manual will be revised as necessary. A glossary and complete subject index to both parts are included. (Author/KP)
