| contents | Guide for the Conversion of School Libraries into Media Centres. Audiovisual Centers Building Conversion Facility Guidelines Foreign Countries Guidelines Learning Laboratories Learning Resources Centers Media Specialists Program Development School Libraries This study presents a synthesis of the problems and questions drawn from the development of school media centers, particularly on the basis of existing school libraries. Attention is given to strategies which have already been used, to allow choice depending on local requirements, rather than suggesting ready-made solutions. Sections in the guide focus on the questions: (1) For whom and why?; (2) With whom?; (3) With what?; (4) When?; (5) Where?; and (6) How? The attached annexes contain significant abstracts from five case studies which include descriptions of the conversion of school libraries into media centers; principles underlying a project to transform a library into a media center; and a description of the setting up of a media center; as well as the text of a "Guide to the Fitting Up and Equipping of a Multi-Media Self-Instructional Centre in an Existing School" by Robert Quinot.
