Harrison, Orion Citations (References) College Libraries Librarians Library Instruction Library Services Library Skills Library Technicians This progress report of the Georgia Southern College Library presents information on a comprehensive program that involved the library in all aspects of the academic program. Objectives were to: (1) inform the college community about present and planned library services and programs; (2) attempt to expose all undergraduates to the organization of information, the existence and use of bibliographic tools, and search strategy; (3) encourage faculty to work with the library on course-related bibliographic instruction; (4) work with faculty to provide bibliographic instruction to majors; (5) initiate a credit course to teach bibliographic skills; (6) develop ways in addition to classroom-centered programs to introduce patrons to and guide them in the use of the library; and (7) educate the members of the library staff concerning the functions of the library, so they can better understand their jobs. Appendices include information on the LSEP grant, questionnaires sent to library staff, and information on library staff orientation. (Author/AWP) |
