- Data for Massachusetts Public Library Analytic Report. FY 1976. Comparative Analysis Demography Library Collections Library Expenditures Library Materials Library Planning Library Surveys Public Libraries Statistical Analysis Statistical Data Tables (Data) This supplemental report has been developed to assist administrators in the comparative analysis and evaluation of Massachusetts public libraries. Libraries have been placed into one of seven budget groups according to their total operating expenditures to provide another method of comparing libraries by "like" size and population of area served. Section I is a statewide summary table displaying statewide total and per capita amounts for public library income, salary expenditures, materials expenditures, as well as print and nonprint circulation totals for fiscal years 1965, 1970, 1975, and 1976. Section II lists individual municipalities in alphabetical order with corresponding data on size of population; state rank; budget group; and FY 76 total operating expenditures, holdings, circulation, and municipal finance base. This is followed by a group of summary tables listing each budget group's mean and percentile values for 12 indicators of library support and activities. Section III is comprised of two sets of regional tables displaying the average figures of all reporting and municipalities for eight indicators of public library support and activities. The first table is arranged by regional affiliation and budget group, the second by regional affiliation and population group. Additional data is provided by two related documents which accompany this report. (JPF)
