Federal student assistance programs described include: Basic Educational Opportunity Grants Program; Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants Program; State Student Incentive Grants Program; College Work-Study Program; Guaranteed Student Loan Program; National Direct Student Loan Program; Graduate and Professional Opportunities Program; the Public Service Education Program; Social Security student benefits; veterans' education benefits; and various other federally-supported fellowships and loan programs. Federal categorical programs described include:community services and continuing education; education information centers; college library assistance; strengthening developing institutions; Upward Bound; Talent Search; and other equipment grants; language training and area studies; vocational education; capitation grants; National Endowment for the Arts; National Endowment for the Humanities; National Science Foundation; and others.
