| contents | The Organization of Facilities and Systems for a Criminal Justice Resource Center. Ellsworth, Daryl Gene Criminology Information Systems Learning Resources Centers Library Planning Resource Centers Special Libraries Systems Analysis Systems Development A case history is presented of the development and initial operation of the special library at the Criminal Justice Training and Education Center, Toledo, Ohio, during an internship for the Community Information Specialist Program at The University of Toledo. Description is given of efforts in organizing an existing collection of books, documents, periodicals, and miscellaneous materials, in planning physical facilities, and in developing procedures and systematic methods of acquisition, processing, and use of the materials. One chapter is devoted to the systems analysis process that was used in the development, and a detailed description is given in another chapter of the subsystems of acquisition, processing, circulation, periodicals, and reference. A manual system of document processing was used, with natural language subject indexing and control by specialized accession numbers. Some alternative systems which were considered are described, and appendices contain copies of memorandums and notes, and a classification system used in another criminal justice information center.
