- Shelved: The Retired Librarian's Guidebook. Elder, Jane D. Business Guidelines Information Services Librarians Occupational Information Program Descriptions Retirement Free-lance librarianship is discussed, and retired librarians are urged to start their own information service as a business. Because computer based storage and retrieval systems are not socially, politically, or economically integrated, and one library cannot hold all information, new needs are emerging for information services. For example, a research paper is a new creation reflecting the information searcher's ability to gather facts, organize them effectively, and think independently. Information companies are described and hints are given for starting a new information business. A bibliography and index are attached. (Author/KP)
