The first section of the book presents critical discussions of sex stereotyping and special book lists which focus on particular authors and themes such as fairy tale literature, male and female roles, careers and the women's movement. The second section, comprising most of the volume, consists of a catalog of more than 600 brief reviews of: picture books, easy readers, fiction and non-fiction for readers in grades 3-10 (grades further specified for each title) and books for young adults. A third section offers additional resources for parents and professionals involved with education: bibliographies, pamphlets and reports, and serial publications. The book's final section contains author, title and subject indexes, as well as lists of publishers, distributors and organizations. (BF)
