Describing many standard reference books, the guide was designed to assist students looking for book reviews and to illustrate the variety of sources for reviews in the McLennan Library. Section one, Major Sources for Reviews, identifies well-known sources such as "Book Review Digest" and "Social Sciences Citation Index." Section two, Daily and Weekly Reviews and Their Indexes, refers to "The New York Times Book Review" and its index, and the London "Times" and its literary supplement. Sections three through six offer sources of reviews of 19th and early 20th century books, reviews in small press publications, Canadian books, and foreign books. Section seven presents sources for review in 14 subject areas, including anthropology, economics, education, English and American literature, history, linguistics, political science, psychology, sociology, and women's studies. Guides to additional sources and sources of very recent books are presented in the last two sections. Each entry gives information on title, period of publication, McLennan Library catalog and shelf numbers, issues contained in the library, and a brief description of each reference book's content and format.
