contents Texas State Documents Depository Survey, 1977: Findings and Results. Documents Monograph Series, No. 1. Walton, Robert Propp, Dale Cataloging Classification Depository Libraries Government Publications Library Acquisition Library Collections Library Standards Library Surveys Microforms Questionnaires State Government State Libraries Tables (Data) This monograph presents phase two of a project initiated in January 1977 to examine the treatment of state documents in the 51 official state depository libraries in Texas. Each depository was sent a detailed 73 items questionnaire investigating that library's handling of state documents in the following areas: document acquisition, program administration, classification, cataloging, program development, Texas State Document Checklist, indexes, microforms, and general. Forty-six libraries completed the questionnaire and, for purposes of examination and analysis, the findings have been presented in two ways: (1) Parts I and II summarize the survey findings by breaking down the responses into major categories of responding libraries (i.e., private academic depository library, public academic depository library, public depository library, and all responding depository libraries); and (2) Part III presents, in detail, the responses of each individual respondent to each item on the questionnaire. Appendices include a copy of the questionnaire; name, mailing address, and phone number of responding depository libraries; a list of librarians responsible for administering Texas documents; changes in handling Texas documents since the survey; and a list of improvements, additions, or changes suggested for the Checklist.
