The program is available as an elective to 11th and 12th grade students in public, private, and parochial high schools. The internships offer experience in many offices, agencies, and departments of county service; assignments may involve fieldwork or library research. Students are required to serve a minimum of five hours a week for nine weeks. A detailed description of this program is given. Twenty-seven internships are described in detail, including the objectives for study, the physical requirements, skills and talents required, and the working hours. Problems with the program are handled by a committee comprised of and directed by high school students. The committee's constitution is included in this document. Also included are teaching aids and examples of student application forms and parent release forms. (Author/JK)
