- Preliminary Guide to the Manuscript Collection of the U.S. Military Academy Library. Russell, J. Thomas Guides Library Collections Military Personnel Primary Sources Research Tools United States History This listing of historically important manuscripts and documents was prepared for the use of cadets, faculty, and outside scholars. While the strength of the collection lies in its coverage of the cadet and professional army careers of academy graduates, it is also rich in materials from the Revolutionary War era and includes records of the Post-Revolutionary War Army at West Point. The guide is arranged alphabetically by the name of the cadet, professor, academy associate, or the historical event. Each entry includes one or more of the following: (1) types of material in the collection (letters, diaries, maps, photographs, papers, scrapbooks); (2) number of items; (3) analysis and/or description of the collection items; (4) acquisition data; and (5) names of people or subjects prominent in the collection.
