  • An Evaluation of Book Suppliers Used by the University of Denver Library. Hanson, Jo Ann College Libraries Evaluation Library Acquisition Library Science Masters Theses Publishing Industry Tables (Data) This research project attempts to provide a basis for systematizing the book ordering process by collecting data on the performance of suppliers now used to provide various types of monographic publications and by evaluating this data in terms of speed, reliability, and cost. Information was gathered from copies of orders for materials which arrived between January 1 and May 1, 1977. Data pertinent to the study included dates of order and receipt, the supplier, the publisher, and discount policies. Based on an analysis of the data, the book jobber is preferred on non-rush trade and university press items because of low cost. Direct ordering from publishers provides the best service on rush orders for which price is not a factor. Data tables and a bibliography are included. (Author/JAB)
