- A FollowUp Survey of Recent Teacher Education Graduates from the University of Northern Iowa. Lynch, H. Lewis Kuehl, Ray Beginning Teachers Course Evaluation Educational Assessment Educational Experience Followup Studies Graduate Surveys Higher Education Preservice Teacher Education Program Evaluation Teacher Attitudes Vocational Followup This survey gathered information from recent University of Northern Iowa teacher education graduates on attitudes toward aspects of the University's teacher education program, on circumstances leading to employment, and on certain employment conditions. The sample in this survey included elementary, secondary, and "special area" teachers. Elementary included kindergarten through grade six; secondary included grades seven through twelve; and "special area" included art, music, physical education, industrial arts, and library teachers, kindergarten through grade twelve. The survey was designed to gather information on the following topics: (1) perceived competencies as beginning teachers; (2) the associate teaching experience; (3) finding a first teaching position; (4) tasks that may or may not pose problems for beginning teachers; (5) responsibilities perceived to be most challenging; (6) assessment of peers and feedback regarding selected working conditions of teachers; and (7) opinion of the University's continuing education program. Included in this document are responses to openended questions on selected courses and a sample of the questionnaire used in the survey. (JD)
