It lists important information sources for the study of history in general, covering more than one country or region. Excluded from the list are manuscript sources, biographical sources, and historical atlases. The bibliography consists of eight sections. The first section cites encyclopedias and historical dictionaries. Chronologies are described in section two. Sections three and four treat surveys and bibliographical guides respectively. The fifth section is a subject bibliography divided into three parts: general; medieval Renaissance and Reformation (400-1648); and modern history (1748-present). Periodical and newspaper indexes are listed in the sixth section. Section seven cites theses. Each entry gives information on author, title, publisher, dates, volumes in the library, McLennan Library catalog number, and a brief annotation. (RM)
