It includes all programs administered by the U.S. Office of Education as well as programs administered by other federal agencies in support of educational services, professional training, or library services available to the general public. Each program is described in terms of the specific type of assistance provided, the purpose for which it is available, who can apply for it, and where to apply. The federal offices to contact for additional information on each program are identified. The catalog includes programs, activities, and services that can be requested or applied for by political subdivisions such as states, counties, or cities, or by corporations, institutions, or individuals. It includes grants, loans, loan guarantees, scholarships, mortage loans, insurance, and other types of financial assistance. It also describes the provision of federal property, facilities, equipment, goods, or services, including the donation of surplus real and personal property.
