Such programs provide experience in the use of book and nonbook resources, automation, and audiovisual teaching devices, as well as techniques for matching learners with the right resources, handling large research topics effectively, understanding modern business management, and exploring all of the areas involved in adult education. Such library science experience enables the teacher to be a helper-advisor to the students, rather than an authority figure, and places the educational emphasis on mastery learning and individualized instruction. Rather than diminishing the value of English graduate work, education in library science presents a vehicle of communication and a new teaching style for the many facets of English instruction.
