- Idaho Interlibrary Loan: A Study of Fill Rate, Turnaround Time, Patron Satisfaction, and Characteristics of Requests. Herman, Michael L. Bibliographies Comparative Analysis Glossaries Interlibrary Loans Library Research Literature Reviews Public Libraries Tables (Data) User Satisfaction (Information) Worksheets Interlibrary loan requests originating at 72 Idaho public libraries during a 12-day period in January 1978, were analyzed to determine fill rate, turnaround time, and patron satisfaction with turnaround time and materials supplied. The results show that of 910 total requests submitted 75.05 percent were filled, 20.11 percent had not been received by the end of the study period, and 4.84 percent were not filled. These figures are compared to those from previous studies. While the mean turnaround time for requests filled was 11.39 days, a total of 94.71 percent of the respondents were very satisfied or satisfied with a turnaround time of one to 39 days, and 94.07 percent were very satisfied or satisfied with the materials they received. Data tables in the report and in appendices provide a more specific breakdown of the findings. The appendices also present a sample data collection worksheet, cover letter, instruction sheet, and second cover letter, as well as a list of patron comments reproduced verbatim from the survey sheets and arranged by degree of satisfaction.
