A profile of respondents determines the experience of each in searching in years, number of searches per month, vendors used, and most used data bases. This information is used to analyze the answers given to questions about the promotion of online searches, needed skills for novice searchers, the maintenance of one's expertise, methods of funding searches, preference for searching alone or with the requestor, the value of an online users group, and suggestions for improvements. Helpful hints for the novice searcher and additional comments were also solicited. (Author/JVP)
