- Academic Library Development Program: Report of the Self-Study. Academic Libraries Evaluation Methods Institutional Research Library Administration Library Expenditures Library Planning Organizational Communication Organizational Development Organizational Effectiveness Program Descriptions This final report of a management self-study based on the Academic Library Development Program, which was conducted at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Library/Learning Center, presents study team and task force reports and cites specific issues and recommendations. Data for the study were collected through interviews and questionnaires. Examination of task force reports and study team documents discern concerns of major importance for improved operation of the Library/Learning Center. Concerns regarding management issues involve communications and reevaluation of objectives in the area of planning and policy-making; staff involvement in budgeting, purchasing, and accounting issues; and improvement of formal communications. Personnel concerns involve supervision of specific staff positions, staff development, and morale. The maintenance of collection and equipment, along with collection development procedures, are urgent concerns in the area of service. A variety of specific problems, involving both supervision and morale, were discovered in the Technical Services Division. Important issues in the Media Services Division involve the integration of the division into a larger unit, the need for a policy manual, and increased support for the division. Survey and data collection materials are appended. (CWM)
