  • Wisconsin Library Building Project Handbook. Holt, Raymond M. Building Design Buildings Construction Costs Construction (Process) Guides Interior Design Libraries Needs Assessment Planning Site Selection Written for those who become involved in a library building project, this manual deals with the basics--from appraisal or needs assessment through planning, design, construction, and occupation. It is equally concerned whether the project involves remodeling, expansion, or a new structure and should be useful regardless of the size or nature of the project. The initial chapter provides a brief overview of the entire process with references to following chapters that deal with specific stages in detail. Because of their predominance in Wisconsin, community libraries serving populations ranging up to 25,000 are the main focus, and the needs of the library user are emphasized. Appendices provide sample pages from a library building program, a suggested list of topics for a building program, and suggested questions for use in interviewing architectural firms. A bibliography and index are also included. (Author/JD)
