  • Children Using Media. Reading and Viewing Preferences among the Users and Non-Users of the Regina Public Library. Fasick, Adele M. England, Claire Books Childhood Attitudes Children Childrens Literature Library Circulation Library Collections Library Research Library Services Library Surveys Program Descriptions Public Libraries Questionnaires Surveys Use Studies User Satisfaction (Information) This study, commissioned to investigate how well the collection and services of the Regina Public Library meet the educational and recreational needs of the children of Regina, has tried to answer these questions: For what purpose do children in Regina use the public library? How well are the informational and recreational needs of library users met? What characteristics differentiate children who use the library from those who do not? Are there changes in policy, services, or collections which the library could make which would improve services to library users? and Are there changes the library could make which might encourage non-users to make use of the library? The study focused on school age children, and results are reported separately for the 6 to 9 year-old-group and the 10 to 12 group. Design and methodology for the study are described and the statistical analyses used are discussed. Recommendations are offered for three areas: policy and planning, collections and services, and programs and publicity. Two questionnaires are appended, one for library users and one for schools.
