Background Economic Factors Educational Trends Information Services Libraries Library Cooperation Library Services Mass Media Objectives Population Trends Program Descriptions State Programs Statewide Planning Intended to provide background information useful to delegates to the Governor's Conference on Library and Information Services (September 1978), the first five chapters of this annual revision of the state program constitute a citizen's overview of library and information services in the state, with some attention to matters national in scope: (1) Wisconsin and Wisconsin residents--population profiles, economic indicators, trends in education, mass media/communications/technology, and library users profile; (2) local library and information services in the state; (3) the area and library and information services, with emphasis on cooperative and coordinated area services; (4) statewide library and information services; and (5) regional and national library and information services. The final two chapters--Goals and Objectives: A Summary Update and Library Services, and Construction Act Criteria and Priorities--focus on continuity and long-range planning.
