contents Integrated Library Network System for the Commonwealth of Virginia--A Feasibility Study. Computers Data Processing Feasibility Studies Federal State Relationship Flow Charts Library Automation Library Cooperation Library Networks Maps Statewide Planning This feasibility study of an integrated statewide library network system consists of two main parts: the body of the report, which includes an introduction to the background and method of the study, the findings, and the modular plan for implementation; and supplementary materials presented in seven appendices reviewing basic facts. These appendices cover library applications of automation, bibliographic services, network components and standardization (both hardware and software), data management software, hardware, and turn-key systems; the last appendix is a glossary of terms. Also provided is a lengthy addendum to the report that presents the requirements and recommendations for such a network--i.e., the data processing requirements for each component within a network with hardware and software requirements for the component and time and cost projections, and a modular approach recommended for the eventual development of a fully integrated library network system.
