contents Library Service Enhancement Program, 1976-1977. Presbyterian College Library. Academic Deans College Libraries Curriculum Development Educational Improvement Higher Education Library Instruction Library Services Library Skills Program Descriptions Program Evaluation Program Proposals Team Teaching This document contains the program proposal, interim reports, and final report of the program evaluation for a program of bibliographic instruction which is part of the curriculum, and taught by faculty working with librarians at Presbyterian College. Objectives were based around three assumptions: (1) a close working relationship with faculty is essential to a teaching library; (2) teaching of library skills must be built into the 4-year curriculum and adapted to the needs and capabilities of the individual student; and (3) trained student assistants acquire skills, competencies, and attitudes which can be of great benefit to them and to other students. Instructional material included library guides, term paper clinics, and library methods courses. In addition, librarians and faculty were involved in conferences, visits to other teaching libraries, department meetings, literature searching, workshops, and holdings surveys in order to improve bibliographic classroom instruction. An evaluation of the program by the library director and academic dean indicated that the faculty were responsive, the pedagogical competence of the teaching staff improved, and the students acquired library skills.
