Nakata, Yuri Directories Evaluation Expenditures Guides Libraries Library Acquisition Library Collections Library Services Local Government Methods Projects Publications Surveys Tables (Data) The project described in this report was designed to create an awareness of local documents on the part of libraries in the Chicago metropolitan area and to gather data on the scope of local document collections in area libraries. Through workshops and personal visits to libraries, the project reached 275 librarians, and, as a result of needs expressed at the workshops, two publications emerged: a manual on the collection and organization of local documents, and a directory of local libraries featuring the scope of local document collections. This overview of the project includes sections on methodology and evaluation, and four recommendations, as well as a list of the project staff and advisory committee members. Appendices contain the evaluation questionnaire and the financial report. (Author/JD)
