- Directory of Academic Library Instruction Programs in Virginia. Prince, William W., Ed. Academic Libraries Bibliographies Directories Evaluation Methods Instructional Programs Library Instruction Questionnaires This directory of academic library instruction programs in Virginia reflects data compiled from 82 academic libraries that responded to a questionnaire sent out in August 1977. The institution libraries are listed with addresses, the name(s) of contact person(s), and a telephone number. The survey results are organized by the format and the type of instructional product/program: various kinds of guides (such as those for faculty, to the card catalog, to separate services, etc.); tours, conducted by librarians/staff or self-guided; instruction to classes for credit or non-credit; workbooks; library exercises; term paper clinics; and library competency test. Under each heading, libraries offering the product/program are listed, and asterisks are used to indicate demonstrated success. Those institutions which have written goals and objectives are also listed, and their methods of evaluating their programs are indicated. The directory includes the survey questionnaire, a description of Project LOEX (Library Orientation-Instruction Exchange), general information about the Southeastern Bibliographic Instruction Clearinghouse (SEBIC), and a bibliography of recent articles on library instruction.
