  • Library Survival. Workbook in Library Skills: A Self-Directed Course in the Use of the Marriott Library. General Studies 101. Gittins, Gwen Dusenbury, Carolyn College Libraries Library Instruction Library Materials Library Services Library Skills Reference Materials Undergraduate Students Workbooks Designed to acquaint undergraduate students at the University of Utah with basic library resources and materials, the program of instruction presented can be used as a self-paced tool either in course related instruction or as an independent offering. A section containing floor plans of the University's Marriott Library illustrates the location of materials and service areas. Chapters for study cover the card catalog, the stacks, periodicals, newspaper indexes, book review indexes, dictionaries, biographies, encyclopedias, almanacs, atlases, documents, and non-print reference services. Multiple sets of questions for each chapter are available so that no student in a given library skills course has the same assignments. Brief guidelines for research are included, as well as a workbook evaluation sheet and pages for correction notes. (FM)
