contents The Relationship between Awareness of the Davis County Libraries and Their Use and Nonuse. Galloway, Sarah Beth Barnes County Libraries Information Sources Library Services Library Surveys Perception Public Libraries Relationship Tables (Data) Use Studies User Satisfaction (Information) Using data gathered from a survey of adult residents living in Davis County, Utah, this study was intended to determine the relationship between the use and nonuse of the county library, and the residents' perception of its print and cultural services. Related surveys taken in connection with library use, profiles of users and nonusers, respondents' awareness of library services, and respondents' use of non-library information sources are considered. Statistics illustrating the relationship between awareness and library use derived from a t-test and an inferential probability test reveal that both user and nonuser would take advantage of more library services if they were aware of them. Sources consulted are listed, and appendices provide a map of the region studied, the formula for randomization correlation of name extraction, the questions asked in the survey, the list of possible answer choices mailed with the questionnaire, a copy of the introductory letter, the formula for the inferential statistical test, and the frequencies generated by the questionnaire.
