Four units cover the following topics: (1) use of a telephone directory; (2) how to read a textbook and how to use the library; (3) looking for and applying for a job; and (4) the task of creating a map of the imaginary Ahi City, with the aim of exercising the comprehension and performance skills that the three readers are intended to develop. Instruction is in the form of low-vocabulary readings, assigned out-of-classroom activities, and comprehension and recognition exercises. An answer key for exercises in all three readers is appended. The last unit assumes that Hawaii is the geographic location of interest to the student. (JB)
