contents Public Library Services for a Multi-Cultural Society. Revised Edition. Cultural Pluralism Library Collections Library Extension Library Planning Library Role Library Services Minority Groups Multicultural Education User Satisfaction (Information) This paper argues that the multicultural society which exists in Britain today requires libraries to be more sensitive and responsive to the needs of minority groups. It is also pointed out that librarians have a responsibility to project positive images of a multicultural society and that they must face up to the difficult issues of prejudice and bias. Guidelines that may be used by librarians to expand and improve their minority resource materials and for developing policies and activities that would make their libraries and staff more sensitive and responsive to ethnic minority communities are outlined. Appendices include lists of resources where materials on ethnic minorities can be obtained, a bibliography, and a description of two programs that provide aid to organizations concerned with the needs of minority groups.
