- Evaluation of the Religion Collection. John Davis Williams Library, The University of Mississippi. Ferguson, Chris Books College Libraries Evaluation Evaluation Methods Library Collections Periodicals Religion Undergraduate Study This report described the findings of a collection evaluation that sought to identify the minimum holdings that would be required to adequately support a viable undergraduate religion major, to assess the religion collection from an interdisciplinary viewpoint, and to determine what materials could be weeded out. The report is divided into six parts: (1) the uses and limitations of collection evaluation, (2) the study of religion at Ole Miss, (3) the religion collection, (4) evaluation of book holdings--bibliographies applied and findings, (5) evaluation of periodicals--bibliographies applied and findings, and (6) the religion collection: present and future. Appended are the table of findings that resulted from using Books for College Libraries as a checklist, the table of findings that resulted from using Berkowitz's Social Scientific Studies of Religion: A Bibliography as the standard, and the periodical findings table that names those periodicals held by the University of Mississippi and included in at least one of these sources: Roger's Humanities: A Selective Guide to Information Studies, Farber's Classified List of Periodicals for the College Library, and Religion Index I: Periodicals.
