Within this grand class of artefacts, the sub-arrangement would, as far as possible, respect the integrity of individual cultures. Only at the level of the culture or society would artefacts need to be evaluated on an art-tool axis, and it could be left to the individual art library or cooperative acquisitions network to decide how far along that axis it wished to proceed--at what point, that is, a category of artefact ceased to qualify as art.
