  • The South Carolina State Library. Tenth Annual Report, July 1, 1978-June 30, 1979. Annual Reports Legislation Libraries Library Collections Library Expenditures Library Facilities Library Networks Library Planning Library Role Library Services State Federal Aid State Libraries This annual report reviews state supported library programs and services for FY 1979 and presents a comprehensive summary of the state library system over the past 50 years. A highlight of the year was the South Carolina Governor's Conference on Library and Information Services. Resolutions, debated and enacted, on specific library needs, funding, cooperation, access, resources and services, public relations, and education were to be forwarded to the White House Conference for additional discussion and debate. The report provides information on library services to include general reader services, specialized legislative services, services to the disadvantaged, to the blind and physically handicapped, and to institutionalized persons. Comparative reviews of state and federally supported projects detail the use of governmental funds in such cooperative programs as the Solar Technology Transfer project and library construction programs. Improvements in library services range across the wide spectrum of reference services, interlibrary loan, film programs, and field services. There is a budget summary for the fiscal year, and a library directory. (RAA)
