Garoogian, Rhoda And Others Federal Aid Higher Education Librarians Library Education Library Personnel Library Science Professional Continuing Education Professional Development State Aid Student Financial Aid This directory of sources of financial aid for librarians and other staff members interested in continuing their professional training lists public library systems, state school agencies, higher education agencies, library associations in the U.S. and Canada, and federal agencies. Information provided includes the address, a contact person, funds available and their purpose, eligibility requirements, future plans for funding, and directions for application. The directory is based on responses to a questionnaire (sample provided) mailed to the institutions cited above. Where funds are available in public libraries and federal libraries, eligibility is usually limited to the staff. State school agencies generally provide aid only to residents, and, at times, target specific groups such as media personnel or administrators. Library association funding normally depends on membership. A few departments of higher education also provide some funding. (RAA)
