  • Dictionary of Braille Music Signs. Krolick, Bettye Blindness Braille Large Type Materials Library Materials Music Resource Materials Visual Impairments This dictionary gathers into a single resource definitions of braille music signs used since 1888 and provides explanations of the wide variety of formats in which these signs have been used at different times by publishers around the world. More than 400 music signs and approximately 100 literary abbreviations are included, but musical terms are not defined. The volume includes explanations of the relationships established by literary braille abbreviations, the use of special braille devices not used in print, and the general format or arrangement of the signs on the braille page. Since it contains signs and formats no longer approved for use, it should not be used as a manual for the transcription of music. The dictionary is published in large print and braille editions and includes a selective bibliography and an index of terms, subjects, and proper names. (RAA)
