  • Audiovisual Services in the United States. Cornelius, Herbert F. Academic Libraries Audiovisual Aids Audiovisual Centers Foreign Countries Higher Education Library Services Library Surveys Nonprint Media Special Libraries An Australian Special Collections Librarian discusses the operations of audiovisual services at academic institutions throughout the United States as he observed them in the course of a 13-week Fulbright study tour. His impressions are based on visits to 22 universities, eight colleges, ten professional associations, and government agencies in 23 states, and attendance at two conferences. In observing the services and discussing their planning, organization, and administration with senior staff, he paid particular attention to the development of programs for the effective exploitation of audiovisual resources by academic staff and their students. This report focuses on staffing, organizational structure, resources, facilities and services, microform, map collections, and attitudes. Australian and American programs and practices are contrasted throughout. (RAA)
