Higher Education Library Education Library Schools Overseas Employment Teacher Exchange Programs Travel This account of a year as a visiting instructor in the Department of Library Science at Pahlavi University provides descriptions of the university, its faculty, and the 2-year masters degree program in library science, as well as observations on the students in the program. A discussion of some of the advantages and disadvantages of working at foreign universities includes personal impressions of cultural opportunities and differences, historical and cultural sites visited, attitudes of Iranians toward Americans and Europeans, the impact of political unrest and demonstrations, and the cost of living for visiting faculty and their families.
