contents The Library in the Independent School. Anderson, Pauline H. Check Lists Elementary Secondary Education Evaluation Criteria Guidelines Learning Resources Centers Librarians Library Administration Library Role Private Schools School Libraries Self Evaluation (Groups) Some of the issues currently confronting libraries are discussed from the perspective of the librarian in an independent school, including automation, censorship, copyright legislation, evaluation, insurance, and networks. A section of statements about these issues and questions relating them to the respondent's library is provided as a guide to increase understanding of the school and library environment. Checklists are offered for both librarians and the head of the school to serve as starting points in a self-evaluation of the independent school library. Appendices include a list of relevant acronyms and their meanings and sample guidelines for library self-evaluation. (Author/SW)
