contents The Ohio State University UVC 100 Library Instruction Program. Tiefel, Virginia Academic Libraries College Libraries Higher Education Library Instruction Library Skills Questionnaires Undergraduate Students This program of library instruction, which was designed by undergraduate librarians to introduce basic library skills to incoming undergraduates, presents the services and resources of the two undergraduate libraries, facilitates the development of positive attitudes towards the library, and promotes recognition of libraries as an information source for further study and a place to seek assistance for information needs. Students are introduced to the physical facilities of the card catalog, reference and circulation desks; become acquainted with learning materials in their various formats; are instructed in the use of the divided catalog and periodical indexes; and become familiar with the library control system. An evaluation system provides a measurement of the effect of library instruction on the attitude and skill level of the students. Appendices include descriptions of the course; library hours, services, and floor plans; questionnaires; instructional exercises; lecture outlines; evaluation results; and a self-guided tour. (RAA)
