The concept is defined in complex as well as simplistic terminology within its historical context; and its dynamics, principles and objectives, and particular applications are discussed. The requisite qualities and skills of the bibliotherapist are analyzed and bibliotherapy is presented as an opportunity for the librarian to influence social change. The concept is addressed both as an art form and as a scientific process, and evidence of its effectiveness is offered. A bibliography of 26 references is included. (Author/RAA) |
