Learning Modules Nuclear Energy Postsecondary Education Program Development Program Guides Safety Technical Education Technical Occupations This program planning guide for a two-year postsecondary radiation protection technician program is designed for use with courses 17-22 of thirty-five included in the Nuclear Technology Series. The purpose of the guide is to describe the nuclear power field and its job categories for specialists, technicians, and operators; and to assist planners, administrators, faculty, and industrial and community educational advisors in establishing and conducting relevant training programs. The guide provides a model curriculum plan and suggests methods for adapting the modular materials to curricula tailored to specific localities or employer needs. Also included is information about educational facilities, equipment, staffing, and instructional materials needed for training technicians and operators in this field. Appended material includes the technical specialty courses and module titles and descriptions; suggested workforce needs survey instrument for radiation protection technicians; equipment list with cost, quantity, and vendor data; and suggested library references and materials.
