- Handbook for the T-LC Model of Career Education for Grades 7-10. Project LANCELOT. (Labor and Career Education Locating Options Together). Critchell, Mary King Administrator Guides Career Education Career Exploration Definitions Glossaries Learning Activities Older Adults Program Development Program Implementation Records (Forms) School Community Programs Secondary Education Volunteers This handbook introduces the Teaching-Learning Communities (TLC) system of implementation for an integrational model of career education in grades 7-10. (The TLC system involves the participation of such non-teaching personnel as retired workers to interact with students in creative activities in arts/crafts/humanities to help students develop skills that are transferrable to a variety of occupations and leisure-time pursuits.) Four major sections constitute the guide. An outline of TLC development and structures and career education-related terms are presented in the first section. The second section covers the application of TLC to career exploration. The third section, on program implementation (half of the handbook), includes two models for volunteer programs; discussion of a workshop for teachers and administrators; role definitions for principals, teachers, and aides; and a section on program activities. Suggestions for planning activities in seventeen specific areas are provided: carpentry, communication, economics, electronics, family ecology, health studies, law-related education, leisure, library science/media, manufacturing, materials, mechanics, multicultural education, nature and environmental studies, recycling, salesmanship, and tools. The fourth section describes potential problems. A bibliography and appendix contain logs, records, forms, and awareness exercises. (MN)
